Leon Hsia didn’t set out to become an auditor—at least not at first. His journey into accounting started with a curiosity many can relate to: How do smart investors actually know what they’re doing? Leon wanted to understand the numbers behind the headlines, the real story inside financial statements. What began as a personal goal to become a better investor quickly turned into a career built on insight, precision, and long-term thinking.

Where Curiosity Met the Classroom

While studying Business Economics with an emphasis in accounting at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Leon discovered that accounting wasn’t just about debits and credits—it was about storytelling. His coursework revealed how financial data reflects strategy, performance, and risk, and how a well-prepared set of financial statements can speak volumes about an organization’s health.

One class, in particular, changed everything: Financial Statement Analysis and Planning. It sharpened Leon’s ability to value companies and reinforced his belief that numbers, when understood deeply, create clarity. That mindset still shapes how he approaches his work today—methodical, thoughtful, and always looking at the bigger picture (even if he occasionally hyper-fixates on the footnotes).

Finding His Fit in Audit

Leon began his career in tax, where he learned the importance of efficiency, organization, and meeting deadlines. Those skills carried over seamlessly when he transitioned into audit. He found the structure and analytical nature of audit especially rewarding, making it a natural fit as he grew into his role as a Supervising Senior.

Leon’s strength lies in balancing the big picture with the small details—he’s known for being highly focused and meticulous, always aiming to get things right the first time.

Why BryMar

Leon joined BryMar after previously working with Sandy and Michael and was drawn back by their leadership, guidance, and people-first approach. He values BryMar’s collaborative culture and the flexibility of a remote environment, which allows him to stay focused, balanced, and present—both at work and at home.

Life Beyond Audits

When Leon isn’t immersed in audits, you’ll likely find him outside on a long run, using cardio as a way to reset and recharge. Most importantly, he treasures time with his wife and two children—a son and a daughter—fully embracing his role as both a dedicated professional and a devoted family man.

Dinner with a Legend

If Leon could have dinner with anyone, it would be Warren Buffett. As a longtime fan of investing, he admires Buffett’s consistency, patience, and long-term approach—qualities Leon strives to bring into his own work and decision-making.

Looking Ahead

Leon brings a calm, focused presence to BryMar and approaches his work with care, curiosity, and intention. From his early interest in investing to his growing career in audit, Leon’s journey reflects steady growth—and we’re excited to see what’s next for him at BryMar
