As guests arrived at the historic Fallon House in Downtown San José, it was immediately clear that this was more than an anniversary party.

There was laughter and conversation filling the space, food and drinks being shared, auction items catching people’s attention, and familiar faces reconnecting throughout the evening. On screens nearby, photos from years past told another part of the story: homeowners, volunteers, team members, projects, and moments representing 35 years of service to the Silicon Valley community.

This was Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley’s 35th Anniversary Paint the Town Red fundraiser, and BryMar CPA Supervising Senior Alex Baron and Marketing

Coordinator Makayla Garcia were grateful to be there to celebrate alongside them.

For our team, the evening offered something especially meaningful: the opportunity to step outside of the usual audit environment and experience the people, relationships, and mission behind a valued client firsthand.

A Celebration Built Around Community

From the beginning of the evening, Paint the Town Red reflected the welcoming spirit of Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley (RTSV).

Supporters, volunteers, community partners, friends, and members of the RTSV team gathered to celebrate an important milestone while raising funds to help the organization continue its work throughout the community.

There were plenty of ways to join in the fun. Guests browsed auction items, picked up RTSV merchandise, and tried their luck with mystery wine bags, each offering the possibility of taking home a higher-value bottle. But between the activities, food, and conversations, one element of the evening kept bringing the focus back to why everyone was there.

A slideshow playing throughout the event captured moments from RTSV’s 35-year history. Images of team members, homeowners, volunteers, completed projects, and community partnerships offered a glimpse into the thousands of individual stories behind the milestone.

Seeing those moments together made 35 years feel tangible.

They represented homes made safer, people able to remain more independent, nonprofit spaces improved, volunteers giving their time, and relationships built over decades of service.

“I had a wonderful night at the RTSV 35th Anniversary,” Makayla shared. “Aside from the amazing venue and atmosphere, you could really feel the sense of community RTSV has. I am so impressed by the work they do and grateful for all of the people they are able to help.”

The People Behind the Mission

For Alex and Makayla, another highlight of the evening was simply having time to connect with members of the RTSV team, including Executive Director Deanne Everton, Operations Director Linda Boswick, and Operations and Salesforce Administrator Vidhi Bhandari.

Those conversations are part of what made the evening so special.

During an audit, there are naturally financial statements to review, documentation to gather, deadlines to meet, and technical requirements to work through. Those pieces only tell part of an organization’s story.

Behind every report is a team of people working toward something larger.

For RTSV, that work centers on helping local homeowners live safely and independently through critical home repairs and accessibility improvements. The organization serves veterans, older adults, people with disabilities, and families who may not otherwise have the resources to complete necessary repairs.

RTSV also supports nonprofit facilities with repairs and maintenance, helping those organizations continue directing their resources toward the communities they serve.

Throughout Paint the Town Red, that mission was visible everywhere through the people in the room and the stories being celebrated.

Seeing the Mission Beyond the Audit

During the course of an audit, we learn a great deal about an organization’s operations, financial activity, challenges, and goals. Being invited into moments like this gives us another perspective entirely.

We get to see the volunteers who believe in the mission.

The community partners who continue showing up.

The team members who have built relationships over the years.

And the people who are proud to support the work being done.

It provides context that cannot always be captured in a spreadsheet, meeting, or financial statement.

At BryMar, we value the opportunity to know our clients beyond the documents and deadlines that naturally come with an audit. Understanding the organization, its people, and the mission behind the numbers helps us appreciate the bigger picture of the work our clients are doing.

Paint the Town Red gave our team the chance to experience that bigger picture firsthand.

Thirty-Five Years of Stories Worth Celebrating

As the evening continued, guests talked, laughed, supported the fundraiser, and celebrated together. But what stood out most was the sense of connection surrounding RTSV.

Thirty-five years is more than a milestone on a timeline.

It is 35 years of people saying yes to helping a neighbor.

Thirty-five years of volunteers showing up.

Thirty-five years of partnerships, repairs, projects, relationships, and homes made safer.

And it is 35 years of an organization continuing to find ways to serve its community.

For Alex and Makayla, attending Paint the Town Red was a chance to spend time with the RTSV team in a completely different setting and see the community surrounding their work firsthand.

For BryMar, it was another reminder of why relationships with mission-driven organizations like RTSV are so meaningful to us.

We are incredibly grateful for our relationship with Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley and for the trust their team places in BryMar. It is a privilege to work alongside people who care so deeply about their mission and the community they serve.

Congratulations to the entire RTSV team on 35 years of impact. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with you and grateful to be a small part of your story.
