A Recipe for Gratitude

As the Thanksgiving season arrives, our BryMar team found ourselves connected not just by the holiday, but by something deeper — the shared experience of cooking together, rooted in the same belief that fuels La Cocina’s mission: that food has the power to bring people together, spark stories, and celebrate culture. 

This year, instead of our usual Thanksgiving potluck, each team member chose a recipe from the We Are La Cocina cookbook — and our conference rooms (and home offices) smelled incredible. From savory breakfast sausages to sweet baked butter mochi, every dish brought forward a story of community, culture, and resilience. 

Cooking Up Connection 

La Cocina — “The Kitchen” — was founded in San Francisco’s Mission District, a community where food has long served as a connector. Since 2005, La Cocina has empowered working-class food entrepreneurs, primarily immigrant and women of color, by providing affordable kitchen space, mentorship, and access to capital. 

The We Are La Cocina cookbook brings these stories to life, featuring recipes and narratives from over 40 La Cocina alumni — dishes designed for home kitchens and community tables.

What made this celebration especially meaningful is that La Cocina isn’t just our inspiration — they’re one of our valued clients.
