When the lights dimmed and the doors swung open at San Francisco’s Rincon Center on May 1, 2025, something magical filled the air. La Cocina’s 20th Anniversary Gala wasn’t just a milestone—it was a gathering steeped in flavors, stories, and unbreakable community spirit.
As BryMar’s very own Senior Manager, Jill Stenton, stepped into the grand hall, she was immediately enveloped by the buzz of anticipation. Friends and supporters mingled over carefully crafted cocktails, sharing enthusiasm for the evening’s celebration and impact. It wasn’t long before the aroma of a three-course meal drifted in—each plate a tribute to the immigrant and women-led entrepreneurs nurtured by La Cocina over two decades.
Under the soft glow of centerpieces, Chefs Kim Alter, Shelley Lindgren, Craig & Annie Stoll, Gaby Maeda, Preeti Mistry, Melissa Perello, Sarah Rich, Sophina Uong, Elizabeth Falkner, and Vera Chan Waller unveiled dishes inspired by real business owners from La Cocina’s kitchens. Jill recalls how each bite felt like a narrative—the result of a chef’s skill, an entrepreneur’s heritage, and the organization’s mission all woven together.
Midway through the evening, the energy crescendo with the paddle raises. Donors pledged enthusiastically, surpassing the matching goal and making this gala “the most successful yet,” a moment reflected on La Cocina’s social media and echoed by Jill’s pride.
For Jill, the highlight was the recognition of Veronica and Dayana through a Legacy Honor—a poignant example of how La Cocina deeply values the individuals who shape its story. Looking around, Jill saw more than colleagues; she saw a mosaic of connections: restaurateurs, supporters, chefs, and donors united by a shared belief in community building through food.

“Being there was a reminder that food is more than flavor—it’s culture, history, hope. Watching the paddle raise soar past its goal, I felt proud knowing BryMar’s support helps make nights like these possible,” Jill shared.
As the evening wrapped up, laughter, stories, and lingering applause marked the closing. Over 350 guests celebrated, contributed, and connected in meaningful ways. The success—both emotionally and fiscally—will directly fuel La Cocina’s mission to incubate emerging food businesses.
At BryMar, we are so proud to stand with clients who lift up innovation, equity, and resilience. It was more than an event—it was a testament to what happens when community, purpose, and generosity come together.
Here’s to another inspiring year, and to next year’s gala—where we’ll be there again, ready to support, celebrate, and create impact.
Congratulations to the entire La Cocina team—what a night!
